Jean V. Kneebone, M.Ac.. L.Ac.

Master of Acupuncture, Licensed Acupuncturist, Certified Reiki Master, Certified Qi Gong Instructor, Certified National Association for Detoxification Acupuncture

Jean has been practicing acupuncture since 1992, when she began attending the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, Maryland. Jean graduated in October 2004 and was licensed in January of 1995. Jean has treated patients from 8 weeks of age to 93 years old. She has treated patients for depression, anxiety, menstrual and menopausal issues, infertility, impotence, smoking cessation, drug and alcohol withdrawal, and chemotherapy support. Jean has treated patients for many types of pain issues, and a partial list includes migraines, neck, back, knee, shoulder, wrist, foot and heel pain, carpal tunnel, pre- and post- surgical issues.

Jean has treated irritable bowel, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, Cystic Fibrosis. Jean has treated patients with dizziness, high blood pressure, stroke, weak immune systems, TMJ, Turrets syndrome, tinnitus and bells' palsy. She has treated many eye issues, sinus issues, and ear issues. Jean says, "Acupuncture helps everyone and every issue. The Chinese say that pain is stuck energy. So acupuncture works to loosen the stuck energy gently, and that helps the patient feel better."

Jean is the kind of acupuncture practitioner who likes to explain things to her patients. She likes to help them understand what is behind their issues, in terms of Chinese medicine. Jean calls these conversations, the process of getting wiggle room around an issue in a patients' life. Jean says, "When a patient can step back from their symptoms and put them into a bigger picture, it helps them cope and speed up the healing process."

Jean has had acupuncture herself for almost 20 years. Jean also exercises regularly, uses chiropractic, massage and reflexology, reiki, and other healing modalities to maintain her health and wellness.

Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, Jean was a computer programmer for 13 years. Jean graduated from Goucher College with a double major in Economics and Communications. Jean says, "My favorite part of being a computer programmer was interacting and teaching the junior programmers. One day, I had a runny nose when I went to my acupuncturist. He put two needles in, one each at the inner edge of my eyebrows. In about five seconds, my nose cleared up. I was so impressed, I thought, I have to learn how to do this." And so, Jean began the journey called Acupuncture Practitioner.

In 2002, Jean expanded her holistic healing practice by becoming a Certified Reiki Master.

Jean is a frequent speaker on Eastern Medicine, holistic healing and acupuncture topics, and is a certified teacher of Qi Gong (crane-style), an energy-balancing stretching and movement practice, akin to Tai Chi.

Jean is available to speak to your group. Please call 410.272.0665 or 877-272-5553.

Sally C. Matthai
Harford County Senior Advocates

1-877-272-5553

Sally C. Matthai announces the opening of Harford County Senior Advocates, which is currently based at Harford Acupuncture and Associates. I began Senior Advocates as a natural outgrowth of a previous work experience. After graduation from college with a Bachelors degree in Arts & Humanities, I worked as a liaison between attorneys and clients for ten years for a national law firm.

Later, I began working with seniors as a caregiver. What I was able to offer to my clients and their families was far greater than being a companion. I offer excellent communication skills to help seniors and interested parties verbalize their desires and concerns.

I first prepare a synopsis of consultations and send it to all participating parties. Once reviewed and approved, the next step is to decide on a plan of action. After obtaining written consent to investigate the client's medical issues, my client and I work together closely to attain the desired goals.

Fees are $15 per hour for services with a minimal chage of $60 per day. Services include an initial consulation along with information gathering via the telephone and Internet. Comprehensive case management, and ongoing status reports.

Senior Advocates can be reached at Harford Acupuncture & Associates at 410-242-0665 or 1-877-272-5553. Or click here frib9@aol.com to send an email.
